Finding Accessible Housing
To begin a housing accommodation request:
- For Harvard graduate students, you must first contact your school's local disability coordinator (LDC) to submit a housing accommodation request.
- For all other requesters, you must first contact Harvard University Disability Resources (UDR) to submit a housing accommodation request.
Once your housing accommodation is approved, your LDC or UDR will contact the Harvard University Housing Disability Coordinator.
If you have any questions, please email huh_disability_coordinator@harvard.edu.
Wheelchair-Accessible Units
Wheelchair-accessible apartments have been modified in a number of ways to facilitate occupancy by a resident using a wheelchair. Floor plans for these units show a wheelchair symbol on them. Also, check the Accessibility Details field in each property’s Unit Attributes/Amenities description.
Typically, a wheelchair-accessible unit is larger to allow a proper turning radius for a wheelchair. Entry door peepholes may be located both at standard and wheelchair height, and all doors will be wide enough to allow a wheelchair to pass through. Clothes rods in closets may be lower. Kitchen counters and sinks may be lower and open underneath. The bathroom may contain a lower-height toilet and sink, and either a tub with grab bars or a roll-in shower with no tub.
